It looks like our nation is about to be massively affected by unfortunate destructions that will revolutionize our most important asset….THE INTERNET. Based off of an article from Reuters, the FCC has the objective to increase Internet speed to “25 times the current average.” With their proposed plan of amplifying household broad speed to 100 Mbps in 10 years from our current standing of 4 Mbps, is already causing trouble amongst AT&T and other servicing companies.
Does that even seem the slightest bit realistic? I’m not the only one that thinks that this is reaching way too high. AT&T reacted as well, due to the factors that are clearly understood through their elements of U-verse high speed Internet service. AT&T provides high-speed Internet service already! So, imagine what households are going to be able to do with that amount of Mbps. Already with 24 Mbps, an AT&T customer would be able do e-mail, download music, view social networking sites, share massive amounts of photos, enjoy a variety of Internet entertainment such as gaming, movie downloads, streaming video, watching television or video clips, as well as handling business to extremes like, video conferencing and online conferencing. An AT&T customer would be able to do all of this with 24 Mbps. So, why overdose the nation with heavy servings of high-speed Internet?
The reasons are definitely endless and the affects of this change can be drastic. Reports have stated that this is a plan to relieve unemployment and utilize energy more efficiently at once! Such changes can instigate both positive and negative forms of action. One of the upsides to all of this would of course be the immediate modification in the usage of the Internet at schools all over the country. A faster access within institutions can be argued from all sides.
As AT&T transitions to these changes within the next few years, I’m sure that their Uverse services will improve significantly. I can’t wait.
